You can light the church

December 26, 2015

We keep the light burning on the Skyline, and you can help support that symbol. A minimum of $40 sponsors a week of church lighting from Sunday through Saturday

Donors can designate half of their gift ($20) to a local charity such as CHUM, Second Harvest, or Harbor House, or to a church program such as music, parish nurse, or the building fund.

You can make your gift in memory, honor, or appreciation of a person or group.

CHUM needs socks

December 5, 2015

All sizes of socks and underwear for men and women are needed for the clients at the CHUM (CHurches United in Ministry) Outreach Center. First UMC member and CHUM Nurse Kevin Walsh notes that he needs clean, new socks every day to treat the injured or infected feet of folks who spend many hours walking the streets of Duluth. Most CHUM users are men and women but there are a few children as well.

Keen observers may have noticed one tree in the narthex with no ornaments. Let’s deck it out with gifts of socks for people in need! Socks hung on the tree over the coming weeks will be collected for people at Harbor House and the CHUM Clinic. Pick out something practical and cozy for the sockless men, women and children of our community.

Church conference

December 5, 2015

The annual Church Conference for our congregation is scheduled for Sunday, January 17, immediately following the morning worship service. Make plans now to attend as we celebrate our faith journey together for 2015 and make some decisions about moving forward together in ministry in 2016.

Our newly formed Hospitality Team will provide us with some ideas of how we can build on the welcoming congregation we already are. All members of the church have voice and vote at this meeting.
