The Carol Donahue Music Scholarship of FUMC has five students receiving scholarships in 2018-2019: Tommy Kishida, studying piano and Saige Mattson, studying the French horn, both of FUMC. Three other students are from the Arrowhead Region: Nick Berglund, a young pianist from Proctor; Sam Brenner, an organ student from Cloquet; and Ben Fina, a piano student from Peace Church, Duluth. The scholarship committee encourages young people ages 12-18 to continue their musical interest by applying and auditioning for this scholarship, so they may broaden their musical skills and share those skills within their own church communities and schools.
Ongoing funding for the Donahue Music Scholarship will occur as the winter months are upon us, with a scone sale on November 18. Christmas wreaths and door swags will also be available in the narthex on November 25, December 2 and December 9 following worship.
If you know a music student age 12- 18 who is serious about their musical studies, the Carol M. Donahue Music Scholarship information and application can be found on the First United Methodist Church website.
The Carol M. Donahue Music Scholarship Committee thanks you for your continued support, gifts, and prayers for these young students.
