Roadside Cleanup, May 18, 2019

May 6, 2019

Saturday, May 18, 2019, Noon-2:00

First United Methodist Church sponsors one of the Saint Louis County Roadside Cleanup locations, and twice a year, in the spring and fall, schedules a time to make our community a little nicer.

Our cleanup area is a two-mile stretch of Maple Grove Road, from Lindahl Road to Solway Road.

We always need more help to make the workload a little lighter. Please call the church office at 218-727-5021 or contact Bill Alexander at if you are interested.

You should dress for the weather, bring gloves, and wear footwear suitable for walking in ditches. Meet us at the Faith Baptist Church parking lot at Midway and Maple Grove. We will supply beautiful yellow vests and stylish garbage bags.

Celebration Sunday

May 6, 2019

We Are Ready for Celebrations! All we need now is YOU!

On Sunday, May 19, the people of First United Methodist Church will gather to worship and celebrate. We have four areas of our church that run in the background, always working and active, or are so visible that we sometimes take them for granted.

On this Celebration Sunday we will recognize our graduates, individuals who have worked for years to reach their educational goals. If you know of anyone graduating from high school or college who should be highlighted during this service, please call the church office to let us know.

We are also excited to have Bishop Bruce Ough preaching during this service. We celebrate his hard work and leadership for us and for our Conference.

We celebrate the conclusion of our Capital Campaign, which began just over four years ago, and all of you who helped make it happen.

Music and musicians are not only a huge part of services at FUMC, but you can also find them out in the community representing us. We celebrate the gifts these one hundred musicians share with us weekly.

Welcome to the party!

Despite the weather, gardening season really IS coming! You are invited to join our gardening group in beautifying the church grounds. We’ll start with garden cleanup on Tuesday, May 21 (rain day is May 22) and then turn to planting: geraniums on Saturday, June 1 and general planing on Tuesday, June 4. For more information, see Marlene Bowen, Laura Krumwiede, or Mary Giese. You can also call the church office at 218-727-5021 for additional information.

Welcoming Greeters Needed!

Individuals, families, and friends are all encouraged to volunteer for a Sunday or two. Please sign up in the Narthex using the sign-up sheets, call Marlys Wolden (728-3024), or contact Mike Donahue (879-3456 to sign up or with your questions.

Wanted: Projectionists for Summer Worship Services

May 6, 2019

We are looking for a few more people to help with projection during the summer worship services. Projectionists are scheduled on a rotation basis, so each person covers about 2-3 services during the summer. Both adults and teens can help with this important worship task. If you’re interested, please contact Velda Bell at or 218-727-5021.

Training will be provided.
