Worship for Sunday May 29, 2016
It is a holiday weekend. We would love to welcome you to our worship at 10 a.m. Education opportunities for adults both before and after worship.
Scripture Reading: I Kings 18:20-39
Sermon: Passion is No Ordinary Word
Morning Prayer: God of the voice of thunder and the sound of silence, God of the tiny spark and the blazing fire, we’ve witnessed damage done in your name – violence, oppression, mean-spiritedness. In the words of a poet, “the worst are full of passionate intensity.” In reaction we try to keep our faith quite reasonable, yet in doing so we risk having a superficial faith or a colder heart. We pray for courage, O God, courage to let our faith go deep, courage to nurture a faith that is both passionate and thoughtful. Warm our hearts, set our souls ablaze so we are changed and we change our world for good. In Jesus. Amen.
Songs: My Lord, What a Morning; Healer of Our Every Ill; God of the Ages
Musicians: Velda Graham Bell, organ; Riley Hinnenkamp, piano; Parker Hinnenkamp, organ
